    ECU question

Hey, i am going to be swapping out my old ECU for a new/used ECU. I talked to a few people but before i buy this ECU someone told me about a immobilizer(wont make the car start or something of this nature?), now i dont want to buy this ECU then have it not work in my car. Is it something VAG-COM can fix? or are my GIAC ecu come with the immobilizer deleted?

    Re: ECU question

B5's in the UK all have immobillisers.

Perhaps the US cars are different.

    Re: ECU question

My cousins 1995 B5 1.6 8V has one in Poland (imported from Austria). Its in the key and a sensor in the steering column detects it. It was a pain sometimes as it wasn't working right so car wasn't starting.
