    Audi Exhaust tips

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone have exhaust tip installed. The bolt on ones? I want to eventually get a new exhaust but can't stand looking at my nice clean car with the black exhaust tips sticking out. I added a link below to a set but just wondering if anyone has them and how they look? Pics also if anyone has some. Thanks!!

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

im in the same boat. washing does nothing. i heard brasso followed by chrome polish will work but i dont have the brasso yet. the problem with our tips is that they are welded on in two spots where they look hard to remove from without cutting the pipe short. those tips are on another site for 80 but ill have to get back to you on the address.

I have these on my stock exhaust. I got them for the same reason, couldnt stand looking at those stained up tips. They are a nice addition just a bit pricey from the dealership

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

The black filthy tips drove me up a wall UNTIL I bought stainless steel pot and pan polish. It's not overly abrasive and makes those babies shine!

I used it on my father 2004 330xi, he has never specificaly cleaned the tips and after 4 years of filth it came right off

You basically used it like any other polich/compound

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

Mine are black alright, I've scrubbed once and after a short time once again BLACK! AHHH! I asked the company about the bolt on ones and they slide over the stock ones and bolt on in the back. You are right probably big but it will probably look awesome and he also stated that they are easy to clean not like the stock ones.... Think I'm going to try if so I will take before and after pics!!!

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

I got an exhaust shop to install my Stainless Steel tips for me. They cut the old tips off and welded a new piece of pipe with two female ends on it. One end went over the existing muffler piping and the other over the end of the stainless steel tip. All in all it costed me like $20-$40, I can't remember exactly. Those Audi tips you posted seem pretty expensive. I got my tips for free but I don't know how much they retail for. Here are some pictures.

They are 4" diameter and 7" long. They have a double wall which means the inner wall is about the same diameter as the piping and then the tips fold overthemselves to make the double wall. Keeps the heat away from the bumper. Here is a link to the tips on the Magnaflow website: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7713

I don't understand what you mean by this. I think they help compliment my Champion Motorsport wheels, RS4 rear sway bar, GIAC chip, and Carbonio Intake.

I have AWE exhaust now and I would sell the tips except that to get them on I had to cut off the stock tips and bolt these on. They def. made me happier to look at my car before I found a good deal on an exhaust though!

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

Those exhaust tips do absolutely nothing for the performance of the car. What I mean by that is this. When someone puts BBS reps on their car it's for the look. You do not get the performance aspect of much lighter wheels. So, with those tips, you get the look of a nice exhaust, but not the actual benefit of one....

the benefit of the exhaust is very minimal anyways, most the power comes from the TP if you get one. I got mine for the sound mostly

Even w/out a TP you get about 10-15 HP. I can feel it in my car around 4th gear. Plus I can hear the turbo spool quicker and it makes a little more audible.

Because to get an exhaust up here to Toronto and get it on my car it would cost 4 times the amount of the Carbonio. I also got a good deal on the Carbonio. Also from what I've read the exhaust does less of a performance gain then the addition of light wheels. I've also had an exhaust on my other cars and I'm tired of listening to an exhaust on a daily driver.

Those exhaust tips do absolutely nothing for the performance of the car. What I mean by that is this. When someone puts BBS reps on their car it's for the look. That makes total sense now and I totally agree with you. I don't even do enough track time to warrant the lightweight wheels, but I liked the way they look. I got free exhaust tips that look nicer than the stock ones, saved myself $1200 on the exhaust, and achieved what I wanted to do.

Those things are huge! A little too huge in my opinion...
Unfortunately, I am a lousy photographer. They don't seem that large in real life. I think they're only 1/2" larger than the stock ones but the design makes them look much larger. Still a good 1-2" smaller then any fart can civic exhaust.

allmine, i say try cleaning them with some heavy duty stuff first. if those tips do go over the existing ones, then assembly will be a breeze but the finished product might be something thats comically huge like malby's magnaflow truck tips (no offense malby). if you get them be sure to post a pic.

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

getting these tips is way easier then trying to clean the stock ones IMO, these come clean w/ just a mircofiber and look way better. If you cut the stock ones off and get the bolt on ones its really nice and will do the job until you can save for exhaust if you decide to get it. I had my tips on my stock exhaust for 2 yrs before I got aftermarket exhaust so it ended up being worth the money and hassle.

One thing i have noticed on many B7's is that the aftermarket exhausts and or tips are fitted wrong. The tips shouldn't stick out any further than the top of the rear valence. Which basically means that the tips shouldn't stick out at all. I've noticed this on the ABT, APR, Remus and AWE exhausts.

Well, I got them in and guess what? The F'in things don't fit. They are probably for a 1.8T so they are in the mail going back already. Called and I actually sent Pics and size of a 2.0T exhaust so they can measure before resending another pair. Worse case is they don't have any to fit my car.... Will let you know what happens next week..... until then..... black exhaust pipes will have to do!

    Re: Audi Exhaust tips

OK, Well I received a call from the store telling me that they had to contact Audi because I guess they also had these listed for the 2.0T's. But Audi made a mistake and they currently do not make tips for the 2.0T muffler system. So they refunded my money plus shipping which was very nice! But I'm still left with black tips. Guess I will just have to go and get that AWE exhaust that I was going to get........ YES!

Those Audi tips you posted seem pretty expensive. I got my tips for free but I don't know how much they retail for. Here are some pictures.

The reason they look like they stick out so much is because I just came back from a hard drive and the pipe expanded about 3/4" to an 1". When cool they don't stick out that far.
