So I finally did an oil change (been a long time). I put 4.4 qrts of oil, check the level, and it oil was within the top line. Then I started the car and let the oil run through the engine for a minute. So after I turn it off and check the level again. To my surprise it was empty. I thought okay, maybe the oil is slowly coming down into oil pan.

So I waited.....for like 10 mins. And I checked it again...empty. So with panic in my mind, I put the remaining qrt (5 bottle, btw) of oil. Checked it again; it touch the low line. I put the last bottle of oil and the reading showed the oil level was on the top line.

So I run the car again and check the dipstick: the oil was fine.

The oil I was using was Mobil 0/40 Syn.

So I'm guessing the 4.4 qrts of oil burned quickly or something else happen?

you should be waiting longer for the oil to fully drain back into the pan

Did you fill your oil filter with oil before putting it on? The filter holds about 3/4 of a quart.

Should take damn near 5 qts with the oversized oil filter required on our cars

Mine seems to take 4 and 1/4 quarts with the mobil 1 filter. I always check my oil cold just before the car is started for the day. Put the correct amount in, no need to check right away.
