You would over-boost to hell and back. If you look up in the right spot at the right angle you can see them.

    Re: Wastegate quesiton

Yeah i talked to a tech at audi and he said if my turbo was blown i would be blowing out black smoke is this true?? because my turbo was leaking a little oil into the lower intercooler pipeing. The car right now is REDICULOUSLY slow... like 4th gear to 6th Is quick but 1 2 and 3rd gear are terrible. My car is stock i raced a new stock SI 2007 from a 2rd gear roll and it smoked me by 2 cars. i know for a fact i should destroy those cars they run like 15.2. I can hear both turbos spooling up and i have physcially check all pipes and made sure they are on secure. i was also checked the lines uptop when i replaced my AUX water pump. I will be ordering my pressure tester tonight but what do you think... ALso my DV's have never been replaced with 90k miles oin it do you think this would have anything to do with this problem??

P.s thx jerbal you always answer my questions quick and without flamieng on me for being a noob in this area of tech lol

    Re: Wastegate quesiton

From what i've seen & heard dead turbo(s) would/may lead to heavy white smoke and/or obvious siren/dentist drill/scraping noises from the turbo so it's probably just a large boost leak or a bad DV, so i'd say you're right on track with where you're going.

A reasonable bit of oil in the intercoolers/piping should be considered normal.

    Re: Wastegate quesiton

    that's not how DV's work.

they only let air through when you close the throttle.

you can clamp the dv lines and see if it builds boost.

but you don't have a boost gauge, so how would you know?

    Re: Wastegate quesiton

Sorry, I've been away from the comp.

To answer your Q, not really, it would result in over-boosting. I would suggest a pressure test and also use VAG to pull codes...
