    Driveline slop and ASP Stabilizer

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After I installed a short shifter I noticed a certain amount of driveline movement. It is transferred through the shifter. It is evident when I go from acceleration to deceleration at low speed. Is this a common symptom of the B5 6spd @ 100k miles? Does the ASP driveline stabilizer reduce this? Transmission mounts maybe?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lyle

What is "DTS"? I didn't see anything on ASP website referring to "DTS". Do you have the driveline stabilizer, transmission mounts, or differential mount?

Yup got a AWE DTS for my A4 and it works great, reduces the slop quite a bit and makes it fell more solid. I found mine on here used for 150

Re: Driveline slop and ASP Stabilizer

unless you go with practically SOLID mounts you will always have some shifter movement on and off load. Its unavoidable with a mechanical linkage.

I have to say the the DTS bar didnt do a whole heck of a lot.

^^2nd the first part of this post.

I would say that the DTS helps a LOT if you are doing aggressive launching.

Re: Driveline slop and ASP Stabilizer

I agree the DTS bar has its place. But it should not be considered a bandaid for the absolutly TERRIBLE stock motor, tranny, and rear diff mounts. Spend the money on those first.

And dont waste your money on so called "RS4" mounts. Go directly to 034, ASP, etc.

Have you tried the polyurethane mount upgrade for your DTS?

Re: Driveline slop and ASP Stabilizer

I have the AWE DTS and it works great. It definitely reduced the amount the shifter rocked back and forth when you get on and off the gas. The only thing you have to be careful with any DTS bar is how low you car is. My car is not that low, but if I don't take speed bumps like an old lady it scraps.

Another great thing to clean up drive train slop is a snub mount. It's cheap not too hard to install and made a noticeable difference.
