Have a question on this recently acquired A6. Prior to purchase I brought it in to an independent Audi service place. One of the things he showed me is some "oil wetness" in some areas of the undercarriage. I want to say near some joints. The tech told me this is very common among this range of Audi vehicles and in 12 valve engines for the most part. The tech also told me that this issue was not something I would need to deal with for a long time. I'm not sure how many miles he felt it could go before it becomes something to deal with immediately, but in time frame talk , it could be a couple of years.
Bottom line, oil levels seem fine, there is no dripping on the ground.
I'd like to know if these statements from the tech sound about right. Also what might I be looking at in terms of the repair job. The tech mentioned head gaskets being replaced. The dealer said that gaskets wouldn't need to be replaced for that job. A bit of confusion for me so I'd like some feedback , thanks!
