OK so i got this 04 a4 1.8tq a week ago today, so its about time for something to go wrong right?

After i got home I saw that my car was leaking something from the driver side corner of the engine bay, after sticking my finger in the stuff i thought it was hydro fluid, but i pop the hood and the coolant is low, and i toped it off after i got the car (a week ago).

Anyway i took off the engine cover and see that there is a tube running the length of the intake manifold that has a T in it with no cap, and is leaking the fluid, although it still doesn't look or smell like coolant

Does any one know what exactly this is or what it is supposed to do?

I thought i knew what i was getting in to when i got an Audi, but i love the quattro

umm... I can't get the picture to work so ill put it as my image, hope that works

you can see it to the left of the dip stick, it is coolant, and i think it is a check valve for excess and air bubbles, but i don't know why it would overflow when it is filled to the proper level

    Re: I thought i knew

is it that nipple thing between the two back intake runners on the black tube? if so its a plug you unscrew when you fill your coolant so the air can escape. it should be filled to the threads then screwed back in. you need to go to the dealer to ge a new one if your is missing.

I still don't know what part he's talking about. In the future, I would suggest circling the area of the photo you're talking about. It would help a bit. Anyway, glad it was resolved.
