just bought new coilpacks. question inside!

i bought some coilpacks from ECS Tuning. they came in today and i was putting the first one on and it seemed a little loose. not as snug as the OEM packs. is this normal?

Did they have dielectic grease on them before installation?! If so, that could be why... Totally normal...

no grease on the new ones. looking at them closer they actually look a little shorter than the stock ones....maybe i'll call ECS tomorrow, i just dont remember seeing if there was a difference between the coilpacks they carried. i got the ones for a 2001 1.8T which is what i have.

what is the part number of your old one and what is the part number on the new ones?

old ones end with the letter L the new ones end with the letter E i'm checking the ECS site...i swear i dont remember seeing a difference in the packages some came with plugs and some didnt...

EDIT: the site says:

This ECS Stage I Ignition solution converts your troublesome & hard to get Bremi brand coil packs (oem part # 06B 905 115L or R same part number i have) with the more durable Hitachi brand coil pack. Over the years the Hitachi has shown to be much more durable than the Bremi's along with being able to be secured to the valve cover with 2 allen headed bolts. This ECS stage I ignition solution kit includes the following:

* Four OEM "E" version Hitachi coil packs
* 8 stainless steel securing screws & washers
* O-rings for sealing new coil packs to cylinder head

E are the ones made by Hitachi they are older then the R but are considered better by many people on the forums. They need to be bolted down unlike the R which are push down.

They are direct replacement I had push downs and replaced them with E no problems :)

I tried the same thing about a month ago and called them. ECS said they would work fine. I replaced cyl 1 and started the car, it worked !! then did the next cyl's one at a time and started each time. I've had them in a for about 2k and notice a little bit better performance.
