How to ship a front bumper?

I've never shipped anything this size before and wanted to know what is the safest and least expensive way of doing so.

The items I would need are large boxes, packaging foam sheets, and large plastic wrap, but where would you get this. I do have packaging tape.

I've heard shipping through Greyhound would be the least expensive but still need to research that.

Has anyone ever shipped bumpers before?

make your own box using card boards and duct tape... lot of it...

For future reference to other's wanting to do the same.

Reason: Sold my OEM front bumper and needed to ship out to buyer.

Supplies needed:
- 3M Painter's Tape #2090
- Bubble Wrap (at least 12" wide by whichever length to wrap bumper)
- Packing Tape
- Blade or scissors
- Cardboard boxes

Pictures of #2090, packaging tape, and bubble wrap.





First clean the bumper and dry.


Second, mask bumper using #2090.



Third, bubble wrap and tape.



Fourth, cut boxes and tape to cover whole bumper.

Dino, if you don't have the boxes yet, I always get my stuff from JDM. Theres one in Sunnyvale. They even have balikbayan boxes . I ended up using big mirror boxes and cutting them up to ship a fiberglass front end. It was a PITA.

DHL is pretty cheap as well when it comes to shipping big things goodluck!

I ended up driving around town looking for recycled cardboard boxes.

I'll look into DHL.

Damn bro, you havent boxed up this thing yet? Balikbayan FTW. BIG ass boxes, strong and cheap compared to the normal places that sell packing supplies.

thought about the balikbayan boxes but those were too big and would need a lot of modifying and cutting. with the smaller boxes there weren't as many cuts.

I just moved and before before packing I was looking for freebies behind local stores. They all seem to have sealed cardboard compactors or something I guess. Thats how I ended up going the Balikbayan route. 20x20x20 box is no more than $3. Other places are like $7.

The "new" local stores are locked but the older ones are open. Actually when I drove around looking for the freebies, a worker was breaking them down to dump and I must have scared the crap out of him when I pulled up quick in my truck. He was like but then was cool about it knowing that he didn't have to walk to the dumpster to get rid of the cardboard.
