    A/C question?

OK, I had my A/C compressor changed last year, because it was making noise. In the process of changing the compressor, they found that it had some other leak in the system. The A/C dryer needed to be replaced. I opted not to fix the dryer at the time because the compressor cost me almost $1k to change and it was the beginning of winter anyway so I wouldn't be using the A/C anyway. So I finally got around to taking my car in to address the othe stuff and I was told that the compressor went bad again.

My question is could running the heat during the winter cause my compressor to go bad?

No, the compressor only runs when you have the a/c turned on. That why people flip off the a/c to either save on gas or get that 1 hp boost.........

The compressor went bad even though you didn't use it (defrosters?). Sounds like shenanigans to me.

I would hope that the part would have some kind of warranty if it come from an Audi stealership. But there's no reason it should have gone bad if you weren't using it. I call BS.
