Engine pics or a cut away of some sort

I'm trying to identify a part of my motor just below the coolant resvor box a little round cylinder looking thing that this hose attaches to from the intake manifold. I needs to find pics of something so I can tell what it is.

its an air / oil separator for the heads. it connects to the breather hoses that come from the top of your valve covers

Do you mean by below the res. toward the front of the car or underneath the res? because I also asked this question a while back and got no answers.

this is the part that he hose came off. It's on now but still makes the noise for about 15sec or till I hit the gas. It's in the back with a silver top you can see a hose attach to it but it was off at first then the noise got muffled when I put it back on, but like I said it goes away but I think it's what made my check engine light come on too.

awesome!, but it looks like all pics but the one I need with the part on it. I put the pics above your post it's the thing in the top right corner with a silver top on it and with the hose attach to the leftside of it... kind of hard to see the hoes though.

your SAS valve is for the secondary air injection system. your pump pushes air into the valve, which releases it into the exhaust to introduce more oxygen to aid the catalyst process. The valve is opened by an electronic solenoid through the use of a small vacuum line.

if you are getting a incorrect flow code, try removing the valve and cleaning it out with a solvent. sometimes water and gunk can cause the valve to stick. also make sure there are no leaks in the air hoses

You will need a VAG cable to do that - they are super cheap on ebay and it will let you diagnose and clear check engine lights.

man does anyone know how to get that SAS valve I can not get to the two bolts underneath it....thanks these pics are awesome makes me want to keep my car. I will def get another S4 when they are cheaper and can get5 a second car. But want a brand new car for main transportation cause of my two kids.

has anybody else taking the SAS valve off and could let me in on how you did it.

got it off and ran a vacuum pump to it and it seems to work. The Audi dealer want $140 for the part with our discount but don't want to buy it if I don't need it. My dad thinks it cause the noise from maybe a vacuum leak somewhere else but the sound was coming right from that valve so I'm thinking it was stuck just a little because when I hit the throttle it would stop making the noise.

just so you know, it dosent affect performance, you dont have to fiz it if you dont want to. the valve could be damamged but there isnt much talk about tips on here, so if it were damged we wouldnt even know if other tips have had this problem as i have never heard of it. I have a tip and mine is fine. 115k miles just for reference
