Where to find LED Licence plate light - locally

I want to replace my burnt licence plate lights with some LED replacements. I jsut called 42 draft and they said that there bulb (39mm fuse style 14.5) might not work in my car and i would need a resistor or something along those lines. My question is - does anyone know where i can get a direct replacment LED for my licence plate lights? I saw the post in the A4 section but i wanted to see if there was somewhere i could go localy to get the bulbs. Is it possible for a direct repalcemnt with no added hardware? Where can i get the BULB!!!!

42DD referred me to a local place called "QMR Motorsports" somewhere in Toronto area (Woodbridge?) that had the very rare correct-voltage-plug-and-play LED plate lights (supposedly) but they were supposed to get them and call me back and never did..

Well I got mine locally from this guy out by Woodbine/16th. I actually let m5racer know and sent some pics of mine that I changed. Got my interior lights done as well. There are a variety of colours to choose from. If anyone else wants some PM me.

I bought my LEDs from superbright. I bought two sets of LEDs for the license plate. One set blue and one set black light(looks purple to me) I tried out the black light and didn't really like it, just got it on a whim really, so if anyone fancies that color hit me with a PM I'm in Etobicoke.

No resistors no bulb out, no melting no explosions

I think on B6 you dont need any resistors, on a B7s with DIS you do otherwise you will get the light out warning all the time. I just ordered everything last night (LEDs with equalizor/resistors), I will let you know the result once I have it installed!

yeah i keep getting this single LED on my right tail that goes out, i always have to wiggle the wiring and its back on then after 3 weeks of bumps on roads lol its off again. gah

So QMR actually called me up and said they had gotten them in...

So I got them installed the other day, and yeah, they look and function great. They're the 39mm 14.5 volt ones.

Needed to clean the connections out and turn the bulbs a couple of times for the best results, but so far so good!

No need for a pic, they look exactly like Siggiepop's!

Mine were about $16 for the pair as I recall, he reduced the price a tiny bit because I waited for them though.

I got my bulbs today. Despite being extra careful about taking the screws out of the light cover (as they strip easy)... the second one still got stripped.

Looks like I'll have to use a screw extractor on it. I'm running both old school and LED bulbs at this time. :)

lol i've never stripped my bolts... i use to toy RC car screw drivers to remove them

I used a small jeweler's screwdriver... worked fine on the first one, but the second one nada.

To add insult to injury I was looking for another tool in the basement after the fact and came across an unused set of right angled screwdrivers!

Just as a follow-up... if anybody does strip the rear license plate light screw, you can pickup a replacement at Canadian Tire.. M3 x 10mm is the size you need. 15 cents a piece.

I tried to buy just the screw when I was at the dealership the other day, but they want to sell you the lens and screw as a set... $19! As long as you don't damage the lens, you know which option to take!
