haha I thought that was funny.

he was most likely going too fast, and wasnt braking properly.

he should have been going about 50% on the brakes then about 60% throttle 40% turning then floored it outta the turn, I think the car was just going way too fast.

easy for us to say, but i still feel bad for him. i had that same experience in a dodge stealth when i was 19, but i hydroplaned and hit a guardrail. still, though, i remember the same thought echoing in my head "please dont hit the......f***!" "GD!"

Not a video i would have posted on the net.

He might as well have let me drive the car.

I could have done the same thing, easy.

Don't feel too sorry for him, I bet he got a replacement soon after.

    Re: This Sucks :(

That sucks! Looks like thats happened to a few people judging by all the skid marks right at the spot where he slid out. The car in front seemed to go through fine.

Its likely he took his foot off the accelerator so the rear wheels lost traction due to the weight of the engine over the axle. If he'd kept his foot down he might have been ok.

Exactly. Watch his right knee just before the car spins... a big mistake in high speed turns, especially in a mid-engine car. Another problem seemed to be that the driver was "racing" the Viper which caused him to enter that turn at a speed beyond his comfort level, hence the lift. I doubt that it would of happened if that car wasn't in front of him.

In any case I don't find it embarrasing at all because this kind of thing can happen to anyone, anytime, no matter how much experience they have. Just be glad no one appeared to be hurt. I haven't been in a race yet where someone didn't spin or crash.

And, if you look closely, he spins right when he passes the bump. So, the combination of lifting off, which takes the weight off the rear, and the bump, which made the transfer of weight happen even more aggressively, caused the spin.

you can see the car in front of him slow down a lot so he was probably going way too fast

There is also a full length video that show the damage which looked like it was only the rear quarter and wheel. He drove it back onto the track after the hit.http://youtube.com/watch?v=ixBsfuShUyQ&feature=related

    Re: This Sucks :(

Yea that was definately driver error. I wouldn't say it was too much speed exactly but since his line was off it was definately too much speed for the line he was taking. If you notice the Viper was going just as fast w/o quattro mind you, he was just following the line better. It reminds me of when my friends bitch about Forza 2 cuz you acutally have to use the brakes.

Thats what you think; the car has a 4 year waiting list, and fixing an all aluminum car is a lot harder than you think

    Re: This Sucks :(

Realistically its more like 2 to 3. But the real issue is if Audi will continue with production for that long. All of our 09 allocation has been purchased. Audi wont even let us start purchasing 2010's yet until they give the ok.

I'd go with 51% braking just to be safe
