How to enter extension or access code from Bluetooth

I just acquired a 2006 A4 cabriolet with bluetooth.

Once a bluetooth phone connection is established, how do I enter an extension or access code?

I have tried entering the extension in my phones directory, but I cannot scroll to it once the connection is established.

I have verizon service with an LG-VX8300 phone which is usually in my pocket while I'm in the car, so it's not easy to enter it from the phone.

Is your equipped with the navigation system? If it is, you can press the TEL button to get back to the rotary dialer and enter it that way. If not, you would probably have to enter it from the phone itself.
