bob, one of the things you'd want to look out for in the RS4 -- common characteristics:
1. watch the clutch. some people have been known to kill the clutch in 5000 miles. I was told the car comes stock with a twin plate clutch.
2. DRC -- check the shocks regularly (every 5000 miles?) for leaks. If they are leaking, good chance you have a DRC problem and you can get it replaced under warranty (I think)
3. engine oil -- seems the V8 is known to consume quite a bit of oil, especially if you like to play around with high rpms. I stock 2 litres of engine oil at home just in case I need some, and if I head out on a road trip, I bring a litre along. It's probably good practice to check your oil level every 5,000 miles as well.
Some people have told me that Sport mode changes throttle response and engine characteristics, opens valves in the exhaust for better flow and exhaust note, and that the stock suspension firms up a bit. I have not been able to find any reference to the last item in the owners manual -- can anyone confirm this?
