    AWE Exhaust Troubles

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been running the AWE cat-back for about a month with ~1500 miles in that time, and ever since it was installed I've heard a clunking noise whenever the exhaust is warm and I go over bumps or poor road surfaces. I recognize that there should be an expectation of gurgling while it's being broken in, which I've heard, but what I'm hearing is definitely different.

Even tonight in 3rd gear around 40mph, the sound seemed to be modulating and over every single bump it felt like the exhaust was rocking and making the 'clunk clunk' sound. The first time I drove the car with the exhaust on was also the first time I drove the car with PSS9's installed. Any chance this could come in to play? Yet, the change in exhaust note leads me to believe that the problem is strictly exhaust.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

Check all your hangers! maybe they didn't get the exhaust back into all the hangers and its hanging a bit low. check all the bolts and tighten them.

Sounds like it's potentially clunking on the front subframe. I don't know if you had it installed or did it yourself, but it's important that you space the exhaust in the middle of the hoop in the subframe for the exhaust to go through.

AWE did not, but I would trust that my tuner knew what he was doing. I'm close enough to AWE to take it there myself, think it's worth it?
