    My car has been burning oil (like 2.5 quarts every 3,000 miles). I can see a light oil cloud in the side view mirrors when I go wide open, so I decided to do a compression check.

    I had 175, 160, 165, 160 for compression numbers. I put a cap of oil into the cylinder #2 with 160 (the oil will help seal worn rings for the test) and checked compression again. Well I had 185 then, so it went up 25psi. Looks like my oil ring is letting oil go by as well as the other rings being worn Kinda sucks but I guess I will be tearing her apart sometime in the near future to replace the rings and while I am at it put in some stronger rods for maybe down the road.

    I guess it ssucks to hear....but then again with the power and times you have made and put out, I guess it was only expected....

    What is the mileage on yoru car?

    That sucks but it happens when pushing twice the power out of these little motors then they came with stock.

    78,000. Had turbo since 50,000. The car still runs perfectly fine, I am just buring oil.

    Well with that comes a decrease in power since you are getting way more blow by.

    not doing anything crazy. Just some Integrated Engineering rods and new rings, that is it. I might want to put in a 3071r sometime later so I figure I will do the rods too. I will wait for all this "BAT" stuff to get figured out first before doing that though since I haven't seen any even remotely impressive numbers.

    This is true. I don't remember what it is even like to have my car run at full potential since it has been so long that I have had a 20psi boost peak problem. Gonna pressure check soon. And havent ran meth injection so I can atleast run more timing either since I have a bad leak. I would probably run like 97mph in the 1/4 right now. I did screw around with my buddy in his 997 carrera s the other day through 1st and 2nd from a stop and he got 1 car on me through 2nd then we stopped since the road was only like a 300yd long straight away. I was all crossed up off the start and we stayed side by side then he ahead after we both went into 2nd, I would like to have seen how bad he would rape me through 3rd in my current form since that is his best gear.

    What compression #'s are you getting Clint? With the way our setups are built we will never see 185psi ever again. At least I know I won't...

    it's nice to have around. I'll do a compression test every 6months or 5000+ miles. So easy and quick to do why not eh? The craftsman kit I got was only ~$50. I'm sure you could find one at harbor freight or something for ~$20-30...

    You will end up spending more money on gas and having someone do it for you then the $25 the tool costs at any auto parts store.

    I just had to add a quart of oil in my car also, it has about 3k it. I know the harder you run them the more oil they will use. Do you think the looser tolerances of the forged pistons could contribute?

    Are you waiting long enough to let the engine fully warm up before getting on it? Got to let it warm up for longer than oem with forged pistons. Don't you run a catch can? If so, is all that's lost oil wise in the can?

    Do not worry quite as much as what compression you are seeing as much as leakdown tests.

    With the larger displacement and lowered comression, of course you will never see numbers in the 185 range. All you need to do is add more boost to offset the lower compression, however the goal is to keep it in the cylinders and not in the crankcase.

    I had to all 1 qt. of oil after about 2k miles. I do get some blow by, but my car is fast so I don't care. I still have to hook up my evac. hoses so the vac. in the crank case will help considerably. I tried Sat. to go up to my work and fix several things I have been putting off but my boss wouldn't let me.
