I looked at my stock pistons today and there not forged, I thought people said they where forged, but these are clearly cast...If you look closely you can clearly see all the casting marks...

    Re: Stock pistons

not what audi says, just by looking at the piston doesnt mean everything, do you know and see what the difference is between a cast parting line and a forged die line, the reason I say this is because alot of 4032 alloy (or lesser) forged pistons take on the look of a casting for many reasons, (sandblasted look, lines, etc...) cranks (in general) are the same way, I think they a lower end forging that mahle made to withstand a higher level of stress than what audi would have put in other motors, (def a relatively strong stock piston) maybe I'm wrong but that just what I have learned

I see what you mean with the finish, but they are definitely Mahle forged.

    Re: Stock pistons

The pistons just looked exactly the same as the rods which are cast... I tried looking for some machining marks, but I couldn't find any..

    Re: Stock pistons

The pistons are forged and made by Mahle, the rods are powdered steel castings.

    Re: Stock pistons

I guess I'm used to seeing forged stuff that looks forged instead of looking like cast...
