All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone,

Im fairly new to AZ. Just picked up my 08 titanium ibis white.
Long story short I picked up my car on an extremely rainy and muddy day (yeh it sucked). Mud splashed all over the lower fenders and door flairs. It rained a couple days after and I assumed that it would wash off.
Now it looks like it has been embedded into the paint or clearcoat. I have washed it thoroughly and tried to clay bar it out with no luck.
Have any of you ibis white owners encountered this problem? Is it possible if it came like this from the factory and I overlooked it?

Ive posted this in the detailers forum as well... Thought maybe more people could help since there is more traffic here...
Any help or suggestions on getting rid of it would be greatly appreciated.

Below are the pics. It might not be that clear but the little splatters of light brown are impossible to get off!!! Its killing me...

I notice a similar phenomenon as a result of the rubber dressing applied at the car wash, however I don't have any stains as it washes right off. I would also try a soft cloth with some bug/tar remover and apply few coats of wax for protection.

yeah, I have no idea. Straight back to the dealer. Could be bad clearcoat. Either way, the sooner they know the better. Is/could it be yellow road paint? If you have comp insurance they'll pay for a chem bath. I had white on my black b6.

try desolve-it or goo-off with some water and a soft towel. It might take a minute but anything I have got on my car has come off with this stuff and doesnt hurt the paint. Otherwise I would take it back to the dealer.

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

I just picked up my 08 Ibis White S-line/Ti-pac last week, and noticed exactly the same thing right after washing/armor-alling the tires. It is most prevalent directly behind the front wheel well openings at the rocker panel; presumably the armor-all slinging off the tires. I'm going to try some bug/tar remover, and wax. If that doesn't work, I'll be talking to the dealer as well. Good Luck with yours.

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

First off i would try a more aggressive clay. Some of the local auto part stores sell only a mild variety. If that does'nt work, then I'd try a light color sand. For example, you might want to use a very high grit wet sand paper (2000 grit), followed by a compound and polish on a machine polisher. Should be very easy to remedy.

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

i would try claying it and waxing it. i had the same problem with some yellow stuff (i don't know what it is) and claying it took it off.

Edit: I'm sorry I just noticed that you said you already tried claying it my bad

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

i have a strong feeling that using a cleaner wax would take care of it. my sister's car had blood stained onto it (a white A3) and I just used some meguiar's cleaner wax that came with my meg's clay bar and it took it right out... I'm not sure if I used it correctly because I basically rubbed it like I would with a polish. anyways, good luck but seriously try it out, it worked for me.

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Im going to take it back to the dealer this weekend to see what they can do. Hopefully some part of the warranty can cover it (possibly a form of corrosion??). Otherwise its off to the detailers to see what they can do...

Wish me luck everyone. Ill keep all of you posted...

Try AutoGlym Paint Renovator, with a micorfibre cloth.
Otherwise, use, AutoGlym Tar Remover, and then wipe it with a wax polisher, such as AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine, or AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection.

however, the first method itself should work fine

I will second the bug and tar remover. It usually gets off the stuff clay won't.

Re: All My Ibis Whites unite... I need help...

I have something similiar happen to me when i put on tire dressing...(at least i think thats what it is) Right after i wash it i have to take a microfiber towel because i have to get out after every stop i make and quickly go over the sides because of the black stuff that splatters all over and it comes right off, but ive never had this problem you are experiencing....
