Question Rattle sound at 4k rpm, what could it be???

Wuts up guys, I have noticed that when I push hard off the line I get a rattle sound between 4-5k rpm's. Could this be a bad DV, what does a bad factory DV sound like? It's wierd because it only happens when I push off the line and hit 4-5k, anybody have any ideas? Thanx

It might be a heat shield. Can you duplicate the noise while sitting still and revving?

Heat shield sounds like a good suggestion, I will rev in neutral and try to duplicate sound.

My car is actually at the dealer today to replace my headlight ballast, so I called up my SA and told him to look at the heatshields because Im getting a lot of rattling. Lets see what happens.

Dealer told me that it actually is the turbo heat shield and CPO does not cover any adjustments, but would cost me about $175.00, I tld him I would do it myself lol Is this an easy task?

no, it wasn't easy at all, my indy shop did it in like an hour, and thats with all the tools and a lift.

I worked on the heat shield on the driver's side when I replaced my EGT sensor. It was very easy. Remove coolant reservoir, unclip large vacuum tube and voila. I was missing a bolt which explained my rattling sound. The bolt is $1.38 and it takes two. The part number is 10005306. Make sure you wear gloves when moving the heat shield. The edges are sharp. It'll take 15 - 20 minutes.
