The other day was driving normal on the highway and heard a high pitched noise.Thought to myself what the hell was that when I looked in my mirror and couldn't see the cars behind me,just more smoke than the summer nationals.Thats when I knew I was going to have a fun weekend, here is some pics of the little project with the nice turbine laying in the pre cat when taking off down pipes.

    Re: Pulled The Motor w/pics

No actually going with stock k03's.Dont want to spend 6,000 for the set up with only 90 day warranty.I wont have 400 hp but I can get it to be alright with chip and custom stuff and bolt ons,at least for daily driver, have other cars that I can take out if I'm in the mood for some real racing.Going for the classy look with some power added and custom shit to be different dont need it to be the fastest.Would go with k04's but dont seem to be reliable I drive alot and the less I have to pull the motor the better.

    Re: Pulled The Motor w/pics

I was always under the impression that the K04's were more reliable. Thats what I got from reading. I never hear of them going bad. I could imagine the price difference though. I hate pulling motors for crap like this. Good luck man.

How many miles do you have on the car, and did it make noise a few days/weeks before this?

Don't think ko4's are reliable, never heard of anyone getting what you do out of k03's 100k plus miles.I'll sacrafice less horsepower for reliability since I drive at least 25k a year.Dont want to pull motor again unless I'm doing rs6 swap.I'm just glad I can do the work myself just have to pay for parts.

Everyone seems to claim they are more reliable. However I chunked up one of mine pretty bad, and it only had about 5k on stage 3.

Goodluck with the build. And do you have a fmic on your A6?

Yes I don't think they are worth the $ either and yes I did my own fmic.

well they are worth it when tuned properly. i homebrewed my own stage 3, which pummeled other OTS stage 3 kits.

interesting piping setup...but why did you leave the drivers side intercooler on the car?

Well... if you're set on K03s, I've got a set w/approx 10K on them. These were put in my car after the original K03s popped. I replaced them with K04s soon after. In any case, $300 takes 'em.

    Best of luck

    Mike

I envy you guys. I would love to learn how to do my own stuff. I was going to do my own breaks, but everyone who learned I drive an audi told me not to. I regret not doing it myself. I dont own a garage, but by the time my car hits 80K I will have one, and that is when I am going to do my own timing belt and water pump. The only way I will learn is by doing. Hope I dont fuck it up :)

BTW, the car looks so sad without the front end in place :(

Sad, Tell Me About It Especially When When U Blow Your Turbos And Think There Goes A Couple Grand.these Cars Look Intimidating To Work On But For The Most Part A Car Is A Car People Get Scared When They Here Audi, mercedes.yeah Dont Fuck It Up It Costs To Much, the Only Way To Learn Is By Trying And Pay Attention Its All For The Most Part Common Sense, and Yes Machanically Inclined.

i do have to agree, these engines look very intimidating... i hate to F something up... it's just so compact, it leaves no room for anything. many of us don't have the room or tools to do such a job. even changing the oils on this thing pisses me off.. sorry guys i used to own a 92 4cyc camry... hahaha
