Got my Labree fullback on Friday

Sounds great. Perfect sounding outside the car. Only problems is that there is an insane amount of resonance in my car around 1500 rpm. I have a tip and its right about 35-40 mph, which means any back road usually puts my in that range.

Any suggestions? Any one else have this problems and fixed it? I read in the A4 forum that vibration of the clamps or the exhaust could cause this.

Other than that, I cannot complain about the workmanship and sound. Perfect sounding both inside and out, just has that resonance issue.

    Hampstead.

You should do it. It sounds great and construction is top notch. I think the resonating that i am hearing is just the tubing touching some metal on my underbody.

It seems every aftermarket exhaust for the V8 S4s resonates/drones to some degree in the 1500-2000rpm range. Milltek less, Labree and FI more. I have a Labree resonated catback and there is a loud drone in that range. That being said, I spoke to Brent Labree about this and he mentioned the Tiptronic cars drone even louder than 6MT. I forget why exactly, but that's what he indicated. Give him a call and he can explain better.

Re: Got my Labree fullback on Friday

Mine doesnt either, the drone is right around 1500-1800 RPM. I moved the exhaust around a bit and eliminated most of it, not much of a big deal any more. There was a slight rattle on the heat shield in the back and also I think it was vibrating near the rear axle on the driver's side. Move it around, resonance is almost completely gone.

Not to get into the debate between 6 speeds and tip, but I am so happy with my tip after trading my B6, which had a manual. The smoothness is much better, and even though at times I missed the manual transmission, not enough to go back to the jerky, shaky, higher revs at speed 6 speed transmission.

I have the AWE B7 resonated catback for my tip and have exactly the same issue at 1500 rpm.

    Ditto with my 6spd B6S4 AWE Non-resonated catback...a bit of drone from 1.5k - 2k. Ohh well...

Re: Got my Labree fullback on Friday

After close to a week, definitely gotten used to it. I can switch to sport mode and the RPMs are held just above the range where I was getting resonance, so that definitely helps.

The advantages of the exhaust outweigh the slight drone, I absolutely LOVE how it sounds and I have no doubt noticed much more midrange pull. All and all I am very satisfied.
