    Debadge Probs

Yesterday I debadged my car and the emblems came right off with the fishing line. The glue part was a bitch to get off even with goo gone, but I eventually got it off. However, up close I can still see the tiny outer edges of the embles on each one. I used WD-40 and Goo Gone, but it didn't help.

Should I heat it up and throw some goo gone on it and see if it does the trick? Also, will some polishing take care of the tiny scratches, if any, on the paint?

Go gt yourself a Meguiar's Clay bar kit. That's what I used. Cleaned it, clayed it and waxed it. Can't tell it was ever there.

    Re: Debadge Probs

okay kool. I figured a lil buffing would clean it up, but I have limited tools since I'm at my uncles.

I'll post some pics next weekend when I detail it.

    Thanks!

I had the same issue. Here's some pics of mine:

I just used some rubbing compound, polish (tried hand polishing at first, then used an electric buffer), then some wax and it turned out great.

I had the exact same problem... only worse. I'm thinking my badges were removed and reapplied with epoxy or some kind of NASA grade polymer. Pick up some 3M Adhesive Remover and use a lint / scratch free cloth... you'll be good to go.

I had the same issue, both on my A4 and my buddies 05 STi, I just washed and waxed it and it made it much better. Then after a few more washes it was not even noticable.

    Re: Debadge Probs

I actually used gasoline to get the glue off when i de-badged. It works like a charm. My friend had a problem with the outer lines when he debadged as well, i told him to swing by my house, i put some gasoline on a cloth, rubbed it for a few and it was clean as a whistle.

It has absolutely no side effects on the paint from what i can see. Just some advice, After i rubbed with the gasoline damped towel, i polished the spot with Scratch X. So any micro-scratches you may have made form rubbing, Scratch X will get out for you.

Here a few pics of how my de-badge came out with the Gasoline

    Re: Debadge Probs

looks good. On Friday I'm going to fully detail it, and if it doesn't work gasoline will be my next option!

BTW - My civic was much easier to take the adhesive off!!!

Thanks for the tip, had the same outline from my debadge and it was really bugging me. Busted out the rubbing compound and buffed, barely noticeable now!
