FEELER: JHM DIY Timing Belt Video for 2.7T

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, based on the success of the transmission rebuild video (1 hour and 47 minutes long) and being contacted by a fellow AZer I am seriously considering making this video.

So the plan would be to make a DIY Timing Belt video that would be free with the purchase of timing belt kit with all the normal goodies from JHM or be purchased separately for like $20.

Just wanted to see the interest in something like this being that it will be a lengthy video and time consuming to make. (Trans video took 6 hours to shoot, but 40 hours to edit and put together.)

    Thanks guys.

If you are not familiar with my videos, check them out here --> http://jhmotorsports.com/videos

P.S. I would show you how to do it WITHOUT the alignment bar or crank stop. I have done plenty without one with no problem.

My first timing belt job had a few snags that could've easily been avoided had I known the right tricks in advance. If it's anywhere near as good as your trans rebuild video, it'll be well worth it.

I totally second that. I have a copy of the Audi engine pull video, but it's pretty crappy because it doesn't show too many details.

I say the more videos, the better. I appreciate everything new for this old car...especially DIY.

Just need to find a local guy who needs a belt done. (don't do a lot of maintenance work, generally do larger builds and R&D products.) But this is a product.

Thanks man. Yeah once I got the S4 thing on lock down I will move to other platforms. Just introduced a rebuild kit for the 5 speeds as a feeler. So when I see interest I will make a push for more 1.8T stuff. I also plan on getting back to my V8 roots (from my mustnag days) and get a 4.2l car. Heck if a local 1.8T guy needed a t-belt done I could make that video no problem. The big reason the 2.7t is so great for me to do vids on though is the fact that everything is more complicated to do and the market is starting to see more DIYers now that the prices of the cars are in the sub 15k range.

Re: FEELER: JHM DIY Timing Belt Video for 2.7T

I agree with the KO4 swap video... and dont worry about the lengh... make it as long as it needs to be and show every single step. That would probably the best video yet. And for the real DIY, you should document the swap on jack stands cause lets face it, thats how most of us will end up doing the swap. A lift is a luxury we dont all have. If you did get a video like that done you could sell it for some serius money and I bet you'd still have tons of people buying it.

Re: FEELER: JHM DIY Timing Belt Video for 2.7T

F@CK YEA!!!! Both the Timing belt and KO4 swap would be a great help and addition to your collection. I'm new to the S world and currently having my mechanic do this as well as some other things(wish this were around now ). I have no problems getting my hands dirty, but at the same time don't want to mess things up even more in the process. I'm more of a visual person so this would be terrific where I can probably save a good amount of money on labor. I'm on the fence on if I want a SS kit, but I can guarantee you that if I do end up getting one it will be from JHM. Not only because it seems to be the best one around, but a big reason is because of the video/support you offer. Offering videos with the parts sweetens the deal much more. For me I'm ok with paying a little more if you're going to show me the way.

H5LL Yea! I love it. JBQ your doing good things for Audi Enthusiasts.

First, a Tranny rebuild video, then a Timing Belt and K04 swap video.

Sign me up for the JHM Technical Training Institute(JHMTTI).

Why purchase a used 01E for $3500.00 when JHMTTI will show you how to rebuild your own for less?

Re: FEELER: JHM DIY Timing Belt Video for 2.7T

WOW guys. Looks like I need to plan on doing this. I should have a K04 job coming up in Mid July and don't have a t-belt job lined up at the moment being that most of my time is spent with large projects and product development.

I may get slowed down as well since I will be on vacation from June 29th through July 8th. So doing anything before I go will be tough.

So.....Anyone in the Sac, Central Valley or Bay Area needing a timing belt job done???

P.S. With crooks like that willing to rip off Audi on Ebay I am currently applying for a copyright on my trans video and will be doing that on my others as well.

So will you do engine pull video after you have done the timing belt video?
If you will, I will wait for you.

I may get slowed down as well since I will be on vacation from June 29th through July 8th. So doing anything before I go will be tough.

So.....Anyone in the Sac, Central Valley or Bay Area needing a timing belt job done???

P.S. With crooks like that willing to rip off Audi on Ebay I am currently applying for a copyright on my trans video and will be doing that on my others as well.
you should re-encode all your video with a corner watermark/logo and have one hidden somewhere kinda transparent. keeps most guys away, unless they like cropping half a video

Yup. Just hope I can protect it and don't get ripped off. If that happens I will probably stop the whole video thing since it is extremely time consuming.

Re: FEELER: JHM DIY Timing Belt Video for 2.7T

Update. I got some people lined up and a couple motor swaps coming in soon. So both vids should be doable

However even once I make the darn thing I need to set aside the time to put it all together, usually 40 to 60 hours. Which right now I can't even answer my phone or respond to emails in a timely manner. So realistically this project should hopefully be done by the end of summer.

Thanks again for everyones responses and I will do all I can to stuff this in with all that I got going on.
