    questions about suede headliner?

    so i went to an apolstrey shop a couple of days ago and the guy said that he wouldnt suggest doing a suede headliner because it would sag due to heat in the car from the sun he said he would have the put buttons to hold it up andi said HELL NO i will not put buttons in my headliner so may question is has anyone had sagging issues with suede headliners and help to this would be great thanks

    sounds like you need a better upholstery shop. done right, you won't have any problems.

    thats what im saying i have heard of alot of people doing this on this forum and i have neverd heard of this i thought about doing it myself but really unsure of how it will come out.

    Well, you really don't want to use actual suede, since it's pretty heavy and will sag after time if the job is not done well. You want to use Alcantara or Ultrasuede, or possibly a microsuede of high quality. Basically, the Alcantara has a higher wear factor and is lighter than suede, so it will not only be easier to work with and stay on the headliner much longer without gravity pulling it down, but it will also look better and feel better for longer due to the improved wear factor and better UV light resistance.

    I have an ultrasuede one and it's been holding up fine (knock on wood)
    the homebrew'd s4
