    CV Boots or New Axles?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Before I left in January I had my car checked out. I noticed that both my front outer cv boots were torn. So after being away for 5 month now when I drive my car and turn the joints start the click. I was wondering if I can just replace the outer halves of both axles or should I just replace the whole axle?

Also I'm planning on doing this next week. Is there a DIY writeup anywhere for this job? I have done an axle before but it was on a Jetta. Thanks

PureMS whole shafts. Don't need to send your old one and they are cheaper than raxles.

Thats what I thought just double checking. I've seen a few write ups on here and it seems like it shouldn't be very difficult to accomplish.

clicking joints just means that there is no more grease in the joint, and they're dry. Take the joint apart, clean it out, visually inspect the joint. If you don't see any significant scoring, just put the joint back together, re-grease it, and install a new boot.
