    Drivers window acting up.

Sometimes, when I put the drivers window up (auto) it goes all the way up, then comes back down 5 inches. It will do this several times, almost as if something is in the way. I've checked and everything is clear of obstructions. I then have to manually hold the button to close it. After that, the auto function no longer works for a while. After a day or so, the operation seems to return to normal. Anyone else see this? I have not yet queried the dealer.

    Re: Drivers window acting up.

Muhahaha... Welcome to summer. This is a common problem on our cars and it typically requires a new window regulator. Heck in under 2 years in phoenix I've had 3 replaced already...

    Re: Drivers window acting up.

It could be the regulator as said above, I got mine replaced last week. but not only does the window not go up very easily but for me it was making a really loud crunching noise almost as if a quarter was stuck. My service manager said that is typical.

And it's caused by hot weather?

    Re: Drivers window acting up.

mine just completely stopped working on the driver side. In fact it was grinding for a while and made the most terrible sound in the world and scratched the hell out of my tint. It was replaced under warranty.

    Re: Drivers window acting up.

mine does the same thing... every once in a while it will go all the way up, then come down a few inches... i think the weather has something to do with it, as it seems to do it on hot days...

I have had that issue on several of my VWs.... '01 GTI, '04 Passat
    4Mo, '02 Jetta Wagon... and also on my '01 A4 1.8T.

    Must use the same regulators.

    Re: Drivers window acting up.

chalk up another dead regulator here.

one hot day i rolled down my windows and the PS front one made loud crunching sounds. scared the shit outta me. Then it refused to go back up. I had to open the door panel up to manually force-shut the window for the night (no dealerships around me were open at the time and the car parks outside over night).

Happened to me @ 29K. Replaced by a reputable dealership under warranty. Took 1.5 hours total.
