Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
what up guys....Im attempting to purchase a set of used wheels from cali. The seller nor myself have ever shipped wheels so he got a fully printed out price quote on ups.com with all the details and the total for ups ground was $270!!! Does this seem wayyyyy too high??? Im not saying hes lying or anything....just maybe not going about shipping these the proper way.

what is normally used by everyone when they buy/sell ship wheels and tires???
    fed-ex?
    usps?

shouldnt it cost approx $100 to ship these??? how???

I dont wanna have to pass on these wheels due to insane shipping costs.

    any help please..........thanks.............Anthony

From where to where? I just shipped my AVUS wheels AND tires about 800 miles away from me via UPS for about 130+door pickup.

    Re: wheel shipment questions.....

cali to ny :( yeah I know its far....but still....your $130 price seems normal. How did you accomplish that? how many packages??? 2? 4? 1? did you package yourself? and they picked it up at your door and shipped???wow.....what did you do? Did you call them and set it all up or did you set it all up on their website?

sorry for all the questions guys...

    Re: wheel shipment questions.....

I just shipped a set of wheels from Hartford to Tucson and it was about $240 via UPS Ground using the buyers account. I have shipped in the past for about $125 using Fedex. It also makes a difference if you put them in boxes or just wrap them. They charged a surcharge for non stock shapes. Sometimes the price is very different shipping to or from businesses vs residences as well.

I also found out there is a big difference between an authorized shipper store vs authorized drop off store. The drop off store does not get a discount vs the authorized shipper does.

ship them in pairs. If they have tires on them just protect the faces and tape 2 together with no box. I have done this many times and I know that is the way DHL wants them because they can roll them around if need be.

should be about $100 fedex Grnd. When I bought my VMR's they were $100 for S&H. Shipping is shipping, even with an acct & discount its only a few % and means a few bucks cheaper.

    Re: wheel shipment questions.....

I had a set of 19" Axis sent from ny to cali a while back via airborne express (yeah it was long ago) and it was nearing $200.

I shipped a set of 15" Mugen RNR's which were virtually weightless and it was about $140 bucks via ups.

I believe DHL is the cheapest of the 3 major companies. (ups, fed ex, dhl)
