    Thinking About Buying A S4

Hey, I currently own a VW Passat (b5.5) and I just turned 17. I'm thinking about getting a 2005 S4 old body so I think that makes it a B6. Besides the fact that I would be switching from Volkswagen to Audi, what is the winter driving like? I live in Minnesota and having a good winter car is key. The Passat is only front wheel drive and its slow (1.8T). Is it worth it?

    Miles: 58,925

Be sure to check your insurance rates and your miles. It takes premium gas at 17-18 mpg. I spend about $120 a week on gas alone. Other than that 24k on a S4 seems pretty good. Check KBB.com to make sure you are getting a good deal. Is it CPO?

Do you fill up twice a week or once? I do not do that much driving so I'm not worried about gas as I do not exactly have a job to go to every day. KBB "claims" it should be at $29,000 give or take. It looks like it is in good condition, I will be test driving it tomorrow morning. Sorry, I do not know what CPO means, what's that stand for?

You have a lot of homework to do, these vehicles can be very, very expensive to repair and maintain. CPO means "certified pre-owned" and is only offered by an Audi dealer. If it's not CPO then it's out of warranty so all repairs are on your dime. At the very least you will want to have the car thoroughly inspected by a mechanic you trust. Your insurance is also going to cost a fortune, it will probably be double or more what you're paying now. Just make sure you know what you're getting into.

They're awesome during winter months. I only got mine stuck once this winter and it was because I went through a a pile of snow at an intersection that was about headlight height. Other than that I pass trucks and all types of vehicles during snowstorms no problem. Just make sure you get a good pair of snow tires.

If I do all city driving on a full tank in the beginning of the day, at the end of the day im due for a fillup.

I spend close to $150 a week on gas at the current rate of $4.45 a gallon on 93 octane.

I fill up twice a week, more if I have a busy weekend averaging 18mpg if I skip 3rd and 5th gear. If you make much money I would be worried if the car is not CPO, as repairs are not cheap even on a regular A4.
