I just finished installing my boost gauge on my "stock" car or so i think. I go out to test drive to see what psi im running. In first gear the car will go to 15-16 psi [O_O] and hold. Then in second it goes to 16-17 [O_O]then back down to 15 and hold. Third, forth, and 5th the same. Didnt even bother with 6th.

So the stock B5 S4 run 10 psi, right?

I must be chipped then?

Only wait to tell is to open up the ecu, right? I will open her up tonight when I get off work. Lets see what she's got.

I think yes, ABT chip or MTM nothing to harsh, mine is chipped with catback and has a piek of 18 psi and hold 16 in all gears so yes I think yours is chipped!

first check for a Manual boost controller, just to make sure. I dont have engine covers on, but look next to the passenger side y pipe, to the left of that should be your N75 valve, if there's something that you can turn there, a dial, you have a MBC not a chip

No I check for MBC first when putting the gauge on. Nothing. Unless its hidden somewhere.

Question thou. Wouldnt a MBC keep it at 18 psi and not drop off???

It is natural for it to hold but then slowly drop down. Even with an MBC

If boost drops because of heatsoak etc, it would continue to drop, not just from 18 then hold at 15.

this happened to me. the only s4 id ridden in before that was a stage 3 car.
i bought mine with apr programming but didnt know it till i was messing with my cruise control one day and saw the check engine flash.
op; try holding the set button to check for apr programming

Im pretty sure stock boost is 7 psi. I had a boost gauge on when I was stock for like a week and It never went past 7

stock boost is 9psi. guy with 7psi u prob had a minor leak or your boost gauge wasnt calibrated. seems like so many ppl buy chipped s4s without knowing haha

Nope just a chip, dv's, and samco tbb because mine tore. Everything else was stock exhaust, crappy clutch, wheels with heavy rubber fuzion zri or somecrap, On race gas vp 104 I think was what i had in the tank. might of been some 76 pump 100 oct not too sure though.

Track was the key part I think. It was at Hawaii raceway park the last day it was open it was December. 0 elevation 80 Degrees outside.

Wish I could right now brother, I didnt bring it with me to iraq. I dont care if you dont believe me or not, I have the video and slip. Although the video you cant hear the time because of some american muscle car in the backround. It was a great run, I had been running 13.12, 13.14's all night, dont know how I knocked a tenth off but I did, and it was great !!
