hi, new poster here
about a month ago i purchased a 97 a4 1.8tq 5spd and recently ive been having some problems with it. i bought it knowing that the turbo seals were pretty much shot, so it was burning off tons of oil and i hate to say that i may have ran it kinda low on a few occasions. but about a week or so ago is when the real problems started
i had been driving it fairly hard for about 10 mins then stopped for a minute or so, then when i took off the engine started knocking horribly at idle. so i towed it to a friends house and took the head off bc the first thing i thought was bent valves since the motor is pretty much stock. but they appeared to be ok, so i put a new turbo in and new gaskets where they were necessary. got it all back together and it still knocks, but only over 1500 rpm, and the knock is coming roughly from around the oil pan. am i correct in thinking possibly spun bearing? i dont want to tear it all apart again for nothing. any help is much appreciated :)
