84k. I planned to do it at 80k, but it was December when I hit 80k and I was lazy and waited until good weather in the spring. I personally would not go past 90, and ideally would change every 75k.

Re: When did you change your timing belt

I just had mine done at 109k miles. I read somewhere on the forums that for the B6's Audi had officially indicated to change the timing belt at 105k miles but later changed it to 85k. Or maybe it was from 95k to 85k -- regardless, there really can't be an official time to get it changed. My mechanic said that you never really know when the belts will decide to go and with these cars you're better safe than sorry.

Regarding the fact that you won't own the car for that much longer, I'd still get it done. When I was buying my Audi from a private party, I told them straight up that I wanted them to take $1500 off the price because the timing belt/tensioner/water belt hadn't been replaced and it was GOING to have to get done. Even though the car was at 105k miles, I also told other owners who had cars at 80k the same thing. Well they knocked the price down $1500 because that is the price I was quoted from an Audi dealership to have the service completed. I benefited 2-fold because I had it done for 1/2 the price elsewhere and thats less taxes due to the lower price. So if you're the seller, I'd consider replacing it now if you can get it done really cheap.

Re: When did you change your timing belt

Manual says 160km i think which is 100kmiles... that's too late, they have a bad habit of breaking at closer to 140km so what 85 miles...
I did mine at 110km so about 75miles... everything was also fine and everything looked good which is the idea here right. You don't want to be replacing it when shit is dieing

Re: When did you change your timing belt

My owners manual says to change the TB at 75k miles.

My B6 has 65k on it now. I'm moving to FL in 2 weeks so I'll drive it down and put a quick 1200 miles on it in a day.

I'll change it between 75k and 80k if I still have it then... keep thinking about trading it in for a GTI since I don't need Quattro in the Sunshine State.

An OG! I'd say risk not doing it. Depending on how many miles until you get rid of it. Audi revised their numbers in 04 from 105k to 75k. Technically it's a risk, but probably one worth taking. GL with the sale.
