I must be getting old. That sounds as if it'd be loud as hell and drone like crazy. I have 3" to dual 2.5" with 2 18" long, round Magnaflows w/resonators and it sucks. Drone out the ass and way to loud around 3k.

same here, I hate how loud my car is. I have Neuspeed exhaust which is 2.25 with 2 resonators after the y and then a muffler on each side with a test pipe and it is loud as hell and drones around 3-4k. I put in a 18" resonator up front thinking it might do something but I don't think it did a damn thing.

8500 really, but I rarely take it there. I will more often when I get that boost drop fixed. As the RPM increase and the boost deceases it reminds me of a K03 and starts to lose a little pull.

if you want hi flow and quiet, you need to look into some more expensive mufflers/resonators. magnaflow and flowmaster are not the answer.

look into Burns and other companies alike. after researching a bit on NASIOC, the STi guys over there have put together some full 3" strait through exhaust systems that are as quiet as stock

I want: High Flow, Low pitch tight medium volume, and silent inside.

I don't think what I want exists... espesially after I put my $500 dream price tag on it.
Upgraded the motor a little, brakes a little more, and suspension a lot.

^yes. you want as little backpressure as possible after the turbo. the turbo itself provides all the backpressure your engine needs to start/run.

Same setup as mine minus the resonators. Mine is stainless cat back Neuspeed and splits into a Y with a muffler on each. It gives a nice rumble at idle, sounds low and aggressive on take off and has a bit of drone at 4000 RPM but for some reason I like the sound lol.

Back pressure to the exhaust valves is what you need, the restriction of the turbo provides all that and much much more.... After the turbo you want NO back pressure if possible, the lower the pressure, the quicker you spool AND the longer you hold power

    Re: Straight piped the 1.8t

just get a wastgate and have it so you can muffle the exhaust on demand. i noticed there was one on my 335i i just threw a check valve in front of it since it shuts one of the mufflers below 2000rpm and before the cat lights off.

very quiet and very loud at the same time. Old farts don't mind loud but having the ability to be quiet on a 2 to 3 hour drive is a godsend. Then you just have the wife and baby screaming at you :)
