wheels size for A6 4.2

I am in the process of purchasing new wheels and tires for my 2000 A6 4.2 and would like confirmation that the following bolt pattern will work:

OEM A4 wheels - 5x112 / 17x7.5

Any suggestions? Many thanks for your input

I have a set of factory C5 S6 wheels for sale with tires in excellent condition. They will bolt right up to your car. AVUS 17X8, 5x112, 35mm offset. 255/40/17. They are the same style wheels that come on the B5 S4's as well as the newer ones (but the newer cars run 18's)... I can ship too... Let me know if you are interested and we can work something fair out.

not sure if the A4 wheels will clear the big brakeson the 4.2..............my winter wheels are factory 17 X 8 with a 35 offset and my summers are a RS6 reps from Hartmann @ 18X 8 with a 35 offset.... go with the 17 or 18 with an 8 inch width...the car will look more aggresive......

I got 3 almost brand new A6 4.2 tires 255/40/17 and I am in CT if you are interested.

I have the B6 A4 sport 5 spoke wheels 17x7.5 et43 on my 2000 A6 4.2 for a winter setup. They clear the brakes no problem but are sunken far into the wheel well. They look funny.

OP: Don't do 17x7.5, it will be dreadful.......I'm running 19x9.5s' on my S6, and still I got spacers.......

hey what tires are you running... i'm thinking of changing out my 8x19 for something wider... i currently run 255/35 but would like to do something like 275/35 with a 9.5 rim :)

i've got 265 right now... still not wide enough... 285 would be perfect, but hard to find around here, i've got a set of 275's sitting at my house, might throw those on, dont think it'll make much diff tho...

it's too bad you can't make it to the leavenworth drive, it's roughly 5-600 cars, from oregon to vancouver. Pretty crazy scene.

sweeet -- i take it you have no rubbing issues? are you on stock suspension or aftermarket? i have a set of KWv3's on which are awesome... :) what offset are your 9.5's ? 42 - 40? my 8x19 are 32 :)

i've got 38 offset all around, so the wheel is pushed in a little bit, which is why i need about a 10mm spacer on the back. i've got H&R suspension lowered about 1.5 - 2.0" i think... i've already got spacers on the front ones, but those aren't enough, i think i need about an 1" spacer all around then it will be good... but yeah, these cars are made to take wide wheels, maybe some day i will decide to spend $4000 on a set of wheels and get 10" for the front and 11" for the back with some awesome dish :)
