    tree sap..

so i parked in one of the guest spots at my friends apartment the other day... it was under a tall tree.. i really didn't think anything of it because it was clear when we left... after we left it rained and when i got back towards the endof the day i noticed there was some sort of tree sap on the hood of my car.. it didn't look bad because it was getting dark out.. so i figured i would just wash it off the next day.. so i wake up and it looks pretty bad.. almost like some spilled oil on my car.. you can see where the tree sap fell on the hood.. and around it you ccould see what looked like oil spots..

so i immediatly brought it to my friends house to wash it off and we noticed the sap washed off but left what looked to be huge water spots... we tried clay bar and even buffing it out a little bit and it is still there... keep in mind this is a brand new car and i really don't think that one day should cause damage like this... any ideas on what to do to get this out??

I would also be interested in hearing the best way to remove some tree sap. I have a similar problem, except i cant seem to remove the actual pices of sap off my trunk and roof. I am thinking clay bar is the best way to deal with it, but I just had the car fully waxed and dont want to take the fresh wax job off.
