S4 Packages

I've started looking into buying an S4 recently and I've noticed that there are a lot of different packages that can come on an S4. I was wondering what all the possible packages were and what exactly they came with. I know that the cold weather package includes heated seats but not really sure what else it comes with. I was also wondering what package the 2001.5 have that includes the nav system and 6 cd changer and how the nav system even works.

2000 S4 options:

- Convenience Package: Glass sunroof, HomeLink transmiiter in suvisor, Auto dimming inside and outside mirrors
- Cold Weather Package: Heated front seats with individual temperature control; expandable ski sack
- Sport interior Package: Leather with Alcantara seat inserts, Silver aluminum belt line trim (replaces wood trim)
- Bose premium sound system
- Audi Navigation System
- 6-disc CD changer
- Hands free Motorola cellular telephone

2001 S4 Options:

Only change is the Sport Package is now the "Enhanced Sport Package" which adds aluminium mirror housings.

2001 cars have ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program) 2001 also comes as Avant as well.

2002 S4 Options:

The same as 2001. The S4 badge changed half way through 2001 (aka 2001.5). There are some rumors that the oil lines to the turbos were revised after 2001 to prevent turbo failure. This may be true but, it still doesn't prevent turbo failure as many 2002 owners have needed to replace them.

To answer your question about the factory NAV system. It is a very basic system that is disc based and only gives directions in the form of audio and graphics in the center of the instrument cluster. Very minimal and needs updated discs to know about new roads and addresses.

The Canadian S4 came with the Cold Weather Package as standard I believe, but they get stuck with halogen headlights, and no fog lights. Not that you are in Canada. :P
