    Homelink issue

    Good day,

I have a 2002 A4 with Homelink. The lights are lit up for the 3 buttons but when I press them, the led does not come on at all. Could this be a fuse problem? If yes, what is the number of the fuse?

    Thanks for your help!

Might be in the wrong section, if so please move, cannot delete.

    Re: Homelink issue

I think the fuse layout is printed on the back of the panel. If the other lights are lit up, I wouldn't think it's a fuse.

I used the Homelink fuse slot to run a secondary cigarette adapter for my XM receiver - seems like it's the top right fuse - I think it's a 5 amp. It's defintely on the top row - a MINI style. Check the back of the panel.

Thank you, I will check, hopefully it's not the unit that's toast, otherwise I will continue using my standard remote:)

    Re: Homelink issue

when you press the button, is the signal going out to operate the device (garage door)? if not, chances are that the wire plug to the transponder (found in the front bumper) is not securely connected. happened to me when getting my timing belt put on (they have to remove the bumper). the plug was simply not securely connected. once squeezed together (and heard a "click"), it started working again.

I've got the exact same problem. I haven't tried to use homelink since I had the USP bumper put on. Do you have a pic or diagram of the plug you're talking about? (I didn't put the bumper in myself so I have no clue where it is)

When I press any of the buttons I does not light up (the led) But the buttons themselves are lit up.

It would be interesting to know where the module is so I can check if it is plugged.

    Re: Homelink issue

Mine indicates that it is ready to receive the code. But when I go out to the bumper and press my garage door opener the hazard lights never flash. Could this be the same problem being discussed already? TIA

    Re: Homelink issue

When mine worked. I had to have the opener pretty much touching the bumper. And I had to click it more than once. I sat there clicking it until it flashed. Did you try that?

Exactly how mine was. The plug should be located behind the front bumper. My guess is that the plug is simply not together tight enough for contact with the transponder.

Don't realy remember where the plug is. My local shop had it all apart to do my timing belt. They were able to go back and fix the plug without the need to take the bumper off (might be accessible between the bumper and the radiator?).

If the plug turns out to be securely connected, then the fault may be with the transponder (expensive to replace).

I will try and find where that thing is in my bumper, it would be nice to have it work instead of taking out the remote everytime.
    Thanks for the info guys!

I have the stock sport suspension, I did not do anything special to it. I'll check for any loose wires, I also have to checkout why my AM on the radio does not work and I believe the backup battery for the alarm is dying...:(
