    Rotor turning

Hey guys and gals just a quickie, I called a shop, the guy said he doesn't do it but he also said that he does not recommend turning the rotors... I have B5 S4 rotors but he had a strong accent so I didn't quite understand but he said it would ruin them or what not.

    Any merit to this?

If there is can someone point me to a discussion on how to seat my new pads properly? I don't want to waste these nice Hawk pads.

    Re: Rotor turning

I got turned down before too. Something about our rotors are not meant to be cut, they are supposed to be used and replaced because the thickness after they have been used a while doesn't leave much to cut off

    Re: Rotor turning

I've had my B5 S4 front rotors turned twice now. So far so good.

Not sure on the min thickness requirement. Might want to check the Bentley for a B5 S4.

    Re: Rotor turning

After looking around I think it says it on the rotor itself, I believe it's 24mm. I have some pretty good lips on mine, so I'm thinking I might need new ones. Everything I have seen now says that those things are meant to be replaced not turned. Germans like to replace things apparently :P

    Re: Rotor turning

i know a4 rotors arent very expensive, adam@ssp has some good deals and you can find some brembo blanks on ebay (yeah yeah i dont usually advise buying audi stuff on ebay) id replace them for a few hundred bucks and be done with it.. i "heard" somewhere that OEM audi rotors are softer metal or something..
