    "A4 Blank switch
This is the blank dash switch. A standard style switch with LED and chrome trim but no markings. Fits A4 cars from 2001 - 2006"
    - VAGparts.com

EDIT: I got an email from vagparts.com after I asked telling me that they hadn't updated their system since 2006... they have now updated and the site now reads the correct model years up to 2008.

Yes it will work. OEMpl.us also has them. You can get it with either the chrome or a black bar depending on your interior. There is a schematic somewhere on the boards or on Audiworld.com that can show you how to wire. I can't find it right now.

In for directions, I will buy one and do the same if there is a DIY found.

you should do the funk button from oempl.us i think its pretty sweet. but that one is pretty covert.

Cool Re: Will this work? Looking to hardwire my passport w/ mute button in-dash (searched)

Thanks guys... just ordered it. I didn't go with the FUNK button becuase I'm going to have "passport" printed on the blank-face mute button switch in a small font w/ white lettering .

This is the best DIY i found courtesy of Tslice (although its for an A3) but it explains everything exceptionally well, especially the circuitry.

DIY: Hardwire Passport w/ in-dash mute button & led alert

I know I'm going to love having this... looks awesome!

good luck... give us pics of the final result...

Tslice has some pics up already of this same job... he's the one that helped me find the A3 DIY.
