Leather seats + front seatbelt buckles = squeaky ride?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had the leather parts of my leather/Alcantara seats cleaned and conditioned a little while ago and now the front seatbelt buckles squeak annoyingly against the side of the front seats. Anybody experience this and know of a quick fix?

i have the exact same problem (except my seats are leatherettes) and it drives me nuts. i was thinking of just wrapping the seatbelt buckle with some cloth when i have time. if anybody else has better (and cheap) ideas, please post away.

there should be a square of felt on the backs of the seatbelt buckles. if there isn't, maybe, get some from HomeDepot and put it there. it comes that way from the factory to prevent squealing.

On the main page (the place where you click on this thread) make sure youre logged in and then double click on the area around the link for this thread.

If that made no sense, its completely understandable.. i dont know how to explain weird things very well.

EDIT: heres a nice picture of what to do, just make sure youre logged in!

There's felt alright, but it's on the side of the buckle next to the center console, not next to the seat material. I'm guessing the factory put it there so that the center console doesn't get scratched up.

Nope! The felt is there to prevent squeaking noise. Audi uses it all over the car to squelch noises.

!? how would it prevent the squeaking noise against the seat material when it's only on the backside of the buckle *boggles*

umm. because the plastic vibrates on the on the leather, producing a squeak of sorts. There's probably other places that do it too that don't concern the seat belts. Chassis flex = squeaks on your interior/exterior.

What is the PC way to tell a customer this? Cause I know my PC response would be to GO F*$& YOURSELF..

I've had my whole drivers seat replaced due to squeaking..

Re: Leather seats + front seatbelt buckles = squeaky ride?

I too was wondering how to get rid of that annoyance!!! Also, anyone have a rattle coming from the back of the car when going over bumps? Sounds like the rear deck or maybe the spare tire cover in the trunk? When I open the trunk and tap on the floor with my finger on the cover, it rattles. My question is...with the back seats folded up and locked in, would this be enough insulation to prevent me from hearing this rattle if it was the spare cover?
