    Porsche brakes are on!!

I put on my porsche boxster brakes about 2 weeks ago and it's a big improvement over stock. Porsche boxster calipers, SS lines front & rear, ceramic pads front & rear. I got the calipers for free and pieced together the rest of the parts for about $500. The pedal feel is way way better than stock and there is a big improvement in stopping at high speeds. I'm running 5mm spacers and they fit fine behind stock 16" sport wheels. If anyone has doubts about a big brake kit it is worth the money(I only spent $500 so I'm a little bias)

Just realized I don't have any shots from far away, I'll work on getting some of those tomorrow.

    Re: Porsche brakes are on!!

you should paint the calipers black again and pick up some vinyl decals from eBay

you could prolly get the same exact porsche stickers or you could pick up some audi rings...

I think I would paint them gold if they were on my ride, but I am different...

Nice. I plan on doing that mod later on, but not for now. Not needed, but wanted.

I'm jealous. I'm going to see how much boxster calipers are at Napa tomorrow. I just ordered the OEM Big Brake kit and was installing it tonight.

I got the carriers from ecs and they are 312mm rotors from an a8. I was thinking about painting them but I got really busy and just wanted them to go on. I might paint them over the summer.

Which wheel bolts did you use? Or did you reuse the stock wheel bolts. Just curious, as some put longer ones on.

if you did not upgrade your rear brakes to a larger setup you just made your car brake even worse than it did before

    Re: Porsche brakes are on!!

I got longer wheel bolts but don't remember the part number or length.

I've heard all the theories on changing the brake bias and actually hurting braking distance and it doesn't seem to be true. I did some crude stock brake tests at 40, 50 and 70 and then went and did the same thing with the porsche calipers and the stopping distance was less. I plan on doing rears eventually but I couldn't pass up free calipers.

    Re: Porsche brakes are on!!

i could see too much weight moving forward too quickly causing the better braking to be overcompensated by additional weight, but then again, that would probably only take in to effect on a high speed hard stop. surely anything else would benefit from stronger stopping power up front. that's just my quick goat thinking physics runthrough.

Rome didn't get built in a day. He's only running 16's, no snarky comments about that?

Rear calipers are still stock with ceramic pads and new rotors.
