    So my car has been at AAMCO for the past month and 13 days for a 1/2 synchro rebuild an few other related issues.

    My warranty is covering parts and labor BUT heres the catch.
    The owner of the AAMCO called and suggested they replace the flywheel but the warranty wont cover it...
    he said to order it from Audi is effin $915.
    I was at school and couldn't get online and checked on it when I got home and ECS tuning sells it for $680.

    Is there something im missing here?
    Why would my flywheel need to be replaced if it only has 36k on it!

    bullshit, if u need to replace it get teh fidanza on ebay for 400 ORR just resurface the stock one u have, dont get scammed

    I mentioned it being resurfaced he said "oh no these dual mass flywheel cant be resurfaced" so I told him I would find one for less...

    Oh and I just found out he ordered it without my permission.
    I'd like to know who is going to pay for that.

    This is ridiculous..
    I haven't had my car for a month and a half

    But why would the car need a new flywheel if has such low mileage?

    Why is the car getting the rebuild? also you can resurface these oem flywheels but alot of places dont want to do it cause it's dual mass, so they just tell you to get a new one. If the previous owner of the car took good care of the car espically with 36k on the dial i wouldn't think it would be bad.
    ask him why it he thinks it needs to be replaced.
    Also as far as resurfacing goes VAST Performance offers that.

    Another question came to mind, Why AAmco? And if remember correctly you asked someone in the regional section about doing a follow up cause the car is in Veinna,Va right? You live in Martinsburg, My parents have there own store in Martinsburg and if i remember correctly there is a AAmco directly behind them. although i'm pretty sure they see more audi's around this way.

    The car was always dealer maintained but the gentleman that owned it was 78 years old so I'm assuming he must've dropped 2nd at 75 mph or something..

    The car is at AAMCO because when I took the car for a checkup at Audi after I bought it I told them about the grind from 1st to 2nd and they said my clutch was slipping and I laughed at them.
    I then took it to the dealer where I bought it from Koons Arlington Toyota and I told them it was the clutch that they mustve not properly installed because they said they put a new one in 10 days before I purchased...so they sent the car to AAMCO where they installed the clutch..I then spoke to the owner and told him it was the synchro and he agreed 100%
    And yeah I couldn't make my way down there so i asked if someone could swing by just to make sure the car was there..

    And na man.
    No AAMCo up this way..
    What store do your parents own btw?

    Luk is an OE brand, they both sound the same to me. But you know how ebay is sometimes. i would make sure there legit before making a purchase.

    BUTTS Fax and copy, it's a small shop. but im pretty sure there was an ammco over there. My line of work is Telecom/IT i installed there Phone switch and got there phone lines up. Maybe they moved it's been awhile since i've been up there

    Well atleast the clutch is being covered, i wouldn't think your flywheel would need to be replaced. I've already had to do clutch and flywheel but out of pocket $2000.00 for parts and labor, I've been srewed around alot with this damn car. Mech. are some shady people, not all but the one's i've meet don't let him screw you over

    They are on Winchester Avenue..
    And it's not there anymore at least man
    I moved here a few years ago from Herndon so maybe I didn't know about it.

    he said ill do the install for free so he wants me to be like "oh what a nice guy but what hes doing it paying $700 for the part and adding 3 hours of labor...

    You shouldn't really need a new FW, you should ask to see the old one. If you do need one, I can get you a VAST OEM resurfaced FW, or a VAST lightweight FW for a LOT less than that. PM me if you're interested.

    I was just looking at the "LW" FW from Vast..
    Do I need an upgraded clutch for this flywheel?

    And if I do, then I'm going to order the resurfaced one from JHM.

    It's hard to find. He's scamming, when i got my flywheel i was going to go with an AWE LW FW but they were on back order for 2 weeks so i had to go oem which was the same price, i payed 700 for it. Hope everything works out for ya.

    It is always a good idea to resurface FW when doing a clutch change, the problem in this particular case is that Audi uses DMFW (More user friendly and better for daily drivers/road cars), which not every shop has the ability to resurface, in such cases, they are replaced. In this case, you can do 1) Buy a new OEM FW from one of the many vendors (PureMS, Avalon, Achtuning, ECS etc.) here. 2) Find a shop in your area that can resurface DMFW and either take your own to them for resurfacing or find a used FW and have it resurfaced. or 3) Buy a resurfaced OEM FW from VAST ( http://vastperformance.com/shop/prod...products_id=60 ) and once you have your FW out, send it in for the core charge refund.

    BTW, you will need all new FW bolts as they are not suppose to be re-used.

    So I'm going to purchase the achtuning....

    You can use the stock clutch with the VAST LWFW, I can also get you an OEM resurfaced FW for a very good price...

    IMO it would be pretty stupid and pointless to buy new when you can get a resurfaced FW which will work just as well.

    So I finally picked my car up yesterday after it being in the shop for a month and almost 3 weeks.

    Everything was a success as far as the synchro's and the new flywheel.
    When they put everything back together they had a CEL and my front bank o2 was throwing a code...i dont remmeber what it was but he said he might as well replace it...not exactly sure how that happened so they replaced it...
    But it's so nice to be able to shift into first without a grind

    The only thing I still need to do is purchase a new fuel tank sending unit and then it's good to go.

    I noticed something on the way home though..
    It was about 100 degrees although the car read 104...and my AC was at 68 degrees but it was not "ice" cold.

    Anyone have input on the AC system?
    Does it need to be recharged or what?

    Any input on the AC issue?
