    Trim Kits/Oxidation

Forgive me if this thread is redundant. I recently purchased an '04 S4 with 19k miles however the chrome trim around the windows and on the mirrors is badly oxidized resulting in a very cloudy appearance. My questions are as follows.

    1. Ideally, I would like to repair the oxidation with a polish or compound. Is that an option? I tried by hand with no luck. Will a buffer be more effective?

    2. If non-repairable, can anyone recommend a trim kit, chrome or black? Can I replace the trim myself? Cost?

    3. Has anyone had their mirrors painted?

    4. Has anyone tried to scuff the trim for a "brushed aluminum" look? If so, any pictures?

    5. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how to overcome this problem?

Sorry for all the q's but the car is light silver and so mint except for this bs. It drives me crazy every time I get in the car. Thanks in advance for all of your input.

I believe that since the window trim is plastic there is very little that can be done to restore the original finish. You'd therefore have to look at replacing the trim which from all accounts is not an easy task..

The exterior S4 trim is aluminum, not plastic It won't polish out. I had mine replaced
