    ABS and Parking Brake??

    HEy everybody...

so i just recently had my ABS light (does not blink...just stays on) and my parking brake light (blinks) go on and off for a little bit and finally just today when i went to park my car it stayed on for 4 minutes when i finally parked.

So i did search and found that aftermarket headlights may cause this?

I did just put some new hid's in about 3 months ago and then blew a fuse and had it replaced about 2 weeks ago..

This started happening about 1.5 weeks ago so im hoping its just the hid's messing with it.

Also, I was out of town for 4 days and when i came back to drive my car, my car did not start until the 5th time turing the key and holding it over and finally exhaust poured out of my borla exhaust...ever since it has been fine...not sure what was up with that.

Dont know if these 2 things are related but any help would be great.

the lights are your ABS Control Module most likely. Google 'Module Masters' and they can repair it for $200 or $250, i can't remember right now. the dealership will change insane money for it, private shops will charge around 500.

I know these lights all too well. Your ABS module is malfunctioning somehow. I went to the stealership, and they quoted me $2200 to fix it. Then I hopped online, and found that I could get it remanufactured for all of $200.

My module is actually scheduled to arrive back from BBA Remanufacturing on Thursday so I can reinstall it (for the 3rd freakin time). I went with BBA to service my ABS module because after they charge you the initial $180, their work is waranteed for life, which means that you can send the module back in if it's having problems and they'll fix/replace it for free.

I was driving over to drop my car off at the shop last night to have them figure out a strange clicking from the tranny and fix my A/C and install my new Borla exhaust since it would be up in the air anyway. And what do ya know - my damn ABS starts to blink and beep at me. we'll see what they say, but looks like I'll be sending my unit out once I get it back from them.

i know htat if the abs goes out, your brakes will lock up when slamming on the brakes but you can still drive right???

Yes. Usually it means you have no ABS.

I've been driving around for a couple of months now without ABS and those lights blinking at me because of these damn faulty units.

And yes, your brakes will lock up, but only if you want to REALLY stop.

    Re: ABS and Parking Brake??

I've locked my brakes up plenty... also your awd will be disabled when those lights are on. Quattro uses the ABS sensors to tell which tires are slipping and apply brakes to the slipping one, so when you don't have abs it can't apply the brakes to the slipping tire.

You'll still have power to the front and back, but whichever tire has the least traction on both ends will get the power.
