    Headunit install, no rear speakers?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well i installed my JVC headunit today and the front 4 speakers work, but the rear deck speakers dont work....i used an aftermarket headunit install kit (the harness so i dont have to cut off the clips on the wiring already in the car)

i looked at the color wires and found them up behind the headunit....they are located on a yellow clip, clipped together with 2 other clips (yellow blue and some other color i forget)

well the yellow clip has the rear deck speaker wires that i need to plug in. how do i get these rear deck speakers to work with the headunit, not hooking them up to an amp? I really DO NOT want to cut the stock harness....

    thanks guys!

PS im not veryyy good with wiring...so please explain in a little bit of detail..thanks!

If you have factory bose which it sounds like you do you need this harness:

all the plugs plug right into that and it utilizes the aftermarket decks rca's and the factory bose amp for sound!

this is an older model JVC headunit then i guess. On the back there is only 1 output, which i plugged the amp for the sub into.

Re: Headunit install, no rear speakers?

alright well in a lot of non-bose audis the rear speakers are amplified only. so basically what you need to do is a) find a way to activate that amp and b) amplifier integration. it's how i had to do it on my friends non- bose b6

the way it's done is with a harness that is a combination of the metra 70 - 1784 and 1787 the front speakers are hooked up through the 84 with direct speaker leads and the rears with the 87. i can't remember the exact model number though

and as for the head unit ... get a new one or you can run the rear amp off the sub output and receive only low frequencies from those speakers

i have bose system in my car.

my friend told me i need a new headunit with more than one rca output and a harness to clip into the rear speakers. i believe that's what i'll do once money applies.
