B6 A4 doors aluminum or sheet metal?

Having a body shop repair my door and replace my fender. They told me that the door will need to be replaced entirely because you cannot purchase a door skin and it cant be straightened because the door is aluminum and bondo wont bond to it. Any truth to this?

i doubt its aluminum but just have them replace the door anyway. Id rather have a new door skin than one thats bondo'd up.

Same thing happened to me, they replace the door skin and apparently sucked at getting the door gaps right. So I complained and they fixed the gaps. PITA!

They must be thinking of the A8, I do believe it uses aluminum in the fenders and hood. Doors, I don't know though.

A4 door skins are steel.

So they do in fact have door skins? So theyll probably change the door skin and fender?

It's steel and there are no skins for these cars, you have to replace the entire door. He might be saying he won't bondo it cause he's a good guy like the one I know. He said he won't bondo it cause then you'll have a wad of bondo on your door and he refused... The other guy hit me so he was paying for it so I said sounds good... but no skins for these cars.

They are not aluminum.

A magnet sticks to them. I know this cause I got an air pressure gauge that is magnetic and had it stuck to my door the other day.

Structural integrity and maintaining audi's standards w/o the chance of a body tech half assin it...

Also, 'bondo' isnt all bad as long as the tech does a good job metal shaping the damaged area prior to applying it. For the most part the industry standard is no more than 1/8" (3mm) thick is acceptable. If it were my car i'd like it as thin as possible though. Even new cars come w/ 'bondo' on them...

There metal AND bondo will adhere to them. Simple fact.....I am body man at a local body and I own an 04 audi a4 which i personally banged up a few times and have fixed and painted myself. If they are telling you it wont work, you probably shouldnt even let them touch your car....lol. Anything else just let me know.

^they probably just dont want to be liable if the bondo starts to warp or crack
