I need to do a valve cover gasket replacement to both sides of my car and was wondering if anyone knew what size hose clamps I would need to finish after I take off the factory crimped clamps off...There are tons of sizes plus I heard of people using zip ties need to fix Thanks for the help

Are you talking about the shitty ones that audi uses, and in order to get off you have to cut them off and never be able to use them again?

They blow. Get the smallest clamp you can find or just rock the zip tie.

The inlet pipe clamps should be about 70-75mm in size. Just get a set of the worm gear style since you could possibly need to take them off again to do other repairs in the future. Worm clamps usually cover a range like 50-70mm. So maybe get a set of 60-80mm.

The stock Oetiker clamps are a pain to remove but, they are extremely solid when they are in place. I have an Oetiker set at home and I use them in places that are hard to tighten and rarely need to be removed.

I remove my y pipe with upper intakes in one piece, that way i dont have to screw with the clamps, when you put it back on.slide the driverside in first then the passenger side.i have done this like 3 times in the past year and much faster too.

sorry... should clarify... i know what it does... but what is it? can it be homemade or is it an absolute necessity to order it for this car? thanks though

you may be able to get around it.

its just a peice of plastic on a screw that pushes the tensioner down towards the block.

i would imagine a similar peice of plastic with a hole drilled in it and a similar screw would work just fine.

I bought the VC gaskets and seals from Blauparts.com. The part # for the tool is 3366. You can buy them for ~$30 (huge rip off), rent from a vendor, or see if someone local to you has one you can borrow. I was in a hurry so I just rented it along with my kit.

I'm sure you could make one, it's just a long bolt with a bracket at the top.

Thanks for the info. Did the instructions that came with the kit help at all?
