I gotta be honest here.. I love my 08 2.0T, regardless of some outside opinions. I realize compared to an RWD or AWD I'll never get the amount of traction, but put into the right hands it's still capable of a fan-freaking-tastic ride.
I test drove an older TT Quatro 3.2 and it was quite a bit more powerful respectively, but it oddly enough didn't feel as "sporty" as this one does.
I had mine APR Stage 1 tuned, and it certainly picked the car up quite a bit compared to it's stock feeling, but it's by no means a soggy car. I am very capable of keeping up with some of the RWDs and AWDs out there once I have in initial traction. Granted if I floor it in 1st I spin a good amount and don't get the jump your others will, but after I'm rolling, I lose no power or traction regardless of my RPM on any gears 2+.
I'm in the CO area, and had an absolutely fantastic time driving from Fort Collins to Vail and then through glennwood canyon to Glennwood Springs. I was more than capable of reaching 80-100 on the inclines, and maintain 90-100 around all the curves without even a slight feeling of being underpowered. Didn't have a single car able to keep pace with me either.
If you're simply looking for power at the stoplights/signs/track, then yeah, the Quattro will be a MUCH better ride hands down. if you're looking for a little cheaper but still [ shh ]ing fun as hell, the 2.0's deliver!
Side note: I see a fair amount of females driving the convertables (8 of 8 so far), but the hard tops are dominated by guys (6/7 self included). I also notice I get a LOT of looks by females driving by and around, so yes, the converts are "chick cars", but the hardtops are "chick magnets".
