    B6 5-star 17x7.5ET45: tires?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    225/40x17 or 235/45x17

Currently the set has one wheel mounting the latter (Conti Sport Contact). I plan to fit the wheels onto a B5 Avant (Sport Package).

    Thanks!

    As bought-

Spare mounted, other 4 OEM wheels in the box.

The Spartans do not enquire how many enemy there are. They enquire only where they are.

    Eh?

    Re: B6 5-star 17x7.5ET42: tires?

225/45R17. You might have rubbing issue with 235/45R17.

BTW, the offset of the wheels is ET45.

Thanks! And thanks for the correction. I checked: wheels made in Norway!

Same here. You might have slight rubbing issues on the 235 if you have a full cabin of people, take a hard corner, or go over a large bump.

    Thanks Doc and Charles.

FWIW, I'm ordering a set of ZRi for it from TR.

Charles, those new 18" wheels for TT would sure look nice on my car at DurtyFest!

A local friend (Matt) did a set on his B6. Awesome. Well done Charles!

I'm also putting these OEM five stars back on the car and need to wrap them in some new tires....looking at the recommended size in General's Exclaim UHP (preferring ride quality and good tread wear to maximum performance).

I haven't been on tirerack in a while, but I thought I remembered these being cheaper than $80 per. Any sales coming up soon

Nothing on the horizon for the Generals. Last price we had for that size was $1 higher in the Spring......

    Thanks for the heads-up, Doc.

In your opinion, is there anything better in this price range from the standpoint of quietness, treadwear, traction? I'm not too concerned about high performance at this point.

Treadwear and noise will be pretty consistent unless you want to pop for something like the Yokohama S DRIVE ( $ 117.00) or a similar tire that is not quite as sticky.
