Turbo noise maybe?

ok so now today, i noticed when the car is launched under load up to about 4-5k rpm's , it makes a winding noise, and i hate to say it, but kinda like the dentist drill noise, which i know, means your turbo is going bad, so could it be the turbo's or what else would cause that noise? and where do you guys buy replacement k03's ? ebay?

If you still have warranty, they should be covered. If not, look into ko4's

yeah i don't , do you think thats the problem for sure? and can you use k04's with all stock stuff as a direct replacement? and where can i get k03's , can you use the ones off the 1.8t?

the ones off the 1.8t won't work i dont think, different inlets/outlets on them... but since ur gonna pull ur motor to replace the turbo's, why not put in k04's and upgrade? i think all you really need is software and some injectors, since u already have intake and exhaust.

you do need to pull the motor correct? and what is the price difference between k03's and k04' ?? and should the turbos be bad on a 2004 S-Line with only 72K miles on it? cmon!

i'm pretty sure you need to pull the motor. check the classifieds for turbo's, there might be some cheap k04's for sale there, if u want to go new, k04's are around 2k i think? 2500 maybe, not sure what new k03's go for. prob around 1000-1500. it would make sense to upgrade the turbo's if ur paying for all that labor. and turbo's can go bad at any time really, but make sure it is ur turbo's going bad before doing all that work lol

Are you sure it's the turbo's? I have the same kind of noise...I HOPE it is...RS-KO4's here I come!!

Well guys , now the car is feeling kinda slugish, but still no black smoke or loud noise, just a small wistle, and i think the problem is i may have a boost leak? , i havnt had one yet, ho do the cars react to a boost leak? and can the DV's be going bad or gone? do they make noise as well?

when dv's are going bad you actaully feel a slight hestation under load i have the same whinnig noise which i think you are refereing to i had the dealership check out the car and they said everything was fine.

Frank are you chipped yet?
Also have you upgraded or replaced your DV's yet?

I doubt your turbos are done....it is probably a boost leak or something less.

I just picked up my car from the dealership and when I picked it up anytime I accelerated I would lose power and hear a loud psshhht. I took it right back and told them it sounded like a boost leak. They took it back in

for the day and sure enough when they were putting my car back together they didn't secure a hose under the intake mani and it blew off. They went back and fixed it on their dime and I am good to go.

Our engines/turbos make all kinds of odd/funny noises. I've learned to not overeact about every noise I hear, because I was paranoid all the time!!! Check your TBB to make sure it isn't ripped, cracked, or popped off. Like everyone else says, it's probably not your turbos, but rather a boost leak, hose has popped off, something like that.
